God … hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things — Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago when I pastored a small church in central Texas a middle-aged couple attended who were not married. He had been married before and it turned out badly. She was content to live with him on his terms. Her daughter who lived with them thought they were married. All loved each other and life was good until he suddenly died and the truth came out. Though she had lived with him for years, the estate went to his son because he was the heir.
Her and her daughter’s time was only temporary, the son was permanent.
There may be those on this earth setting up their own little dynasties, taking God’s creation and using it the way they see fit, ruling justly or not. Their time is only temporary, God’s son is the heir and shall decide the resolution of the estate.
“When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons … The kingdom of God shall be … given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. — Matthew 21:40-41,43
Thank God we have opportunity, now, to become an actual part of his family and ensure a permanent place with Christ.
