All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. – Galatians 3:27 (CEB)

Our criminal history with God has been expunged,1 so why continually dredge it up in prayer? Before coming to Christ, Yes! we need to be aware we are sinners in need of redemption, but not afterwards!

Though I am a sinner in my sight2 I am not one in his! He see me redeemed, clean, and dressed in his beloved son! He begins his character changing work in me, making me more like Christ in my actions, not from guilt but gratitude.

Prayer: Father, I am grateful that though I see my failures you see your son who died for my sins and ever lives his life in and through me!

Sound Bite: I have given my life to Christ, I am redeemed, and I will not let anyone tell me different.

Grasshoppers!

[W]e saw the giants … and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. – Numbers 13:33

God sent spies into what was to be Israel’s future home land but they brought back a bad report — the whole nation lost their opportunity to enter because they saw themselves as “grasshoppers!”

God called them an army but they felt like grasshoppers! Isn’t that what happens to us? Our feelings don’t align with what God says and we lose out on divine opportunities! No more!

Prayer: Father, thank you that I am what you say, not what I feel. Help me to see in your word, the Bible, what I really am and what I really have in Christ. Amen.

Sound Bite: I’m no grasshopper!

One Barrier to Belief

For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. – Matthew 21:2

Why could the publicans and harlots believe but the religious could not?

One little word – repentance.

To repent literally means to turn around, at least in mind and heart.  The non-religious saw their need and were glad for the relief Jesus offered.  The religious thought they were already holy and needed no change.

Their own self-righteousness became their biggest barrier to belief.

Don’t make that same mistake.
