Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are…when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own. — 1st John 3:1-3 (The Message Bible)

I learned something about recognizing value when I gave away company stock. I had received it as a youth because I was family and had no idea how much it was worth until I gave it away for free.

Afterwards, the realization of what I lost hit me but it was too late. Something similar can happen in a church or to those in a Christian home who grow up with eternal opportunity freely given by Jesus’ sacrifice.

There is a future for those who remain faithful to Christ. We need to keep that future in focus to stay pure and faithful.

Humanity’s Primary Purpose

It didn’t take long for someone to ask, “What am I doing here, anyway?!” The church decided to look through history and the scriptures and provide the answer.

In 1643 much of the church gathered in Westminster Abby and it took five (5) years but first on the list was, “What is the chief end of man?

The answer to why we were put on this earth in the first place — Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” There it is in a nutshell!

Sure, there is work to do both now and later. Yes, there are difficulties and sorrows but they are meant to be temporary. Life gets its strength, fulfillment, and effectiveness from glorifying our Creator and enjoying him!.

“Then he [Nehemiah] said unto them [the worshipers], Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:9

Sound Bite: The Joy of the Lord is my Strength
Prayer: Jesus, show me how to enjoy you in my living, today, and bring you honor. Amen.
