“The Bible is often turned to as a source of favorite quotations. It is used as the authority for pop psychology or to undergird a personal philosophy of life. it is dissected, divided, and dispensationalized to fit our way of thinking. I sometimes wonder if God would even recognize His Book the way it is presented in some of our churches.

“The Bible is a record of God’s restoring to humanity what was lost in Eden…the Bible is the Word codified…Christ is the Word incarnate…The Word was given, both in written and living form, to return us to a personal relationship with the almighty God.”

In my early traveling ministry, I was greatly disturbed by the praise given to me for my teaching ministry. I often rebuked people by telling them, “Give God the glory.” In a prayer session one day, God asked me why I was so hard on His children. “They don’t know how to give the glory to Me directly,” He said, “but you should know how to receive it and, in turn, give it to Me.

Treat each compliment as a flower. Thank them for their praises, and then put them together as a bouquet and present it to Me.”

From that day to this I have joyfully collected praise flowers. Before going to sleep at night, I present this bouquet to Father God. I have the pleasure of smelling the flowers, but He has the responsibility of handling them…

I recognize the flowers I hold in my hand do not belong to me; I am but the floral delivery person…The day I’d begin to believe all that other say about me would be the beginning of the end of my ministry.
