God … hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things — Hebrews 1:1-2

Long ago when I pastored a small church in central Texas a middle-aged couple attended who were not married. He had been married before and it turned out badly. She was content to live with him on his terms. Her daughter who lived with them thought they were married. All loved each other and life was good until he suddenly died and the truth came out. Though she had lived with him for years, the estate went to his son because he was the heir.

Her and her daughter’s time was only temporary, the son was permanent.

There may be those on this earth setting up their own little dynasties, taking God’s creation and using it the way they see fit, ruling justly or not. Their time is only temporary, God’s son is the heir and shall decide the resolution of the estate.

“When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons … The kingdom of God shall be … given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. — Matthew 21:40-41,43

Thank God we have opportunity, now, to become an actual part of his family and ensure a permanent place with Christ.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son — Hebrews 1:1-2a

Many claim to speak for God and in the past many have but the Bible tells us something changed when God sent his son, Jesus.

No more Old Testament type prophets are needed to represent God to us low-lings; everyone and everything since is focused on Christ — who he is, what he has done, what he is now doing, what he shall do when he returns. In fact, the whole gift of Prophesy is now changed.

[H]e that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort – 1st Corinthians 14:3

Prophesy since Christ, as my old preacher friend said long ago, is to “Build up, Stir up, and Cheer up” — and everyone can do it (1st Cor. 14:31) because the Holy Spirit is given for all who receive Christ as their savior.

Stay clear of those that want to speak to you for God, all his sheep can hear his voice.

“In the past God spoke … through the prophets …but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” – Hebrews 1:1-2 NIV

Christ is the Pivot Point of history. All true prophets and seers of the past pointed to him and he is now the source of all God’s revelation.

No more is there, nor has there been, need for another to come after Christ and speak for him, all such are impostors; he speaks for himself to and through his body with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is their purpose.
