“But Joshua spared Rahab … because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho—and she lives among the Israelites to this day. – Joshua 6:25”
Some biblical scholars theorize the five (5) Books of Moses and Joshua were, really, written hundreds of years later as a compilation from various ancient oral traditions (Wellhausen’s Documentary hypothesis).
One “proof” they offer is the many “unto this day” references — 28 of them in the first six (6) books of the bible.
Certainly the stories were codified after the events but Joshua 6:25 gives us a framework of how long afterwards it was — by saying Rahab was still living at the time of the writing.
Maybe we should not take some of those biblical “scholars” as seriously as they would like.
